We bought a house with a pool and recently found the cover stored in the shed. There are brass fittings around the pool, and spring-loaded connectors sewn into the edge of the cover itself. But how does the spring-loaded part attach to the brass embed in the deck?

With the cover there should be a long-ish looking Allen wrench type piece of metal, as well as either a plastic or steel hollow bar with a plastic handle on one end (like old bike handle bars). The Allen wrench is used to raise and lower those brass anchors so that the straps from the cover can be eased onto them. The handle bar thingy is what you use to slide the straps onto the anchors - and take them off each spring. The first ones are easy - the last few require more effort - including stomping on the strap to get it to snap into position. For your first round with this, you may want to consider having someone come in to help you put it on. It's very easy - just hard for me to explain without pictures. Maybe someone else will chime in too.
