 Hi All,

I took off the multi-valve that goes to the filter (it is a Hayward and it allows me to Filter, Backwash, pool and spa boost, and waste). I was told to check the gasket in the valve to see if it was worn down....(I am loosing a lot of water in my pool and it is only losing water when the filter is on and I can hear water running in the pressure release pipes that go to the sewer) so the gasket was ok and I put some lubricant on the gasket and around the edge of the multi-valve before I screwed it back on.

After I screwed it back on and turned the filter on...it started squirting water out of the sides. Do you think it is the lubricant that I put down or what could it be....I put it back on the exact way that it came off.

Also, do you have any ideas why the water would be lost when the filter is on and where to look?

Thank you

I recently had a similar problem which I fixed by replacing the Spider gasket. Now, no more leaking (I hope) down the drain. I assume you know that the gasket to check is the strang one down in the valve, and not the circular one at the top. Contrary to what I've been reading, my replacement would not work until I used some Krazy Glue to hold it down.

Afterwards I had a minor leak around the top, like you, and just had to clean off the circular gasket and apply a little lube. I only put the lube on the gasket and not one the valve itself.

Best of luck to you.

The spider gaskets go bad pretty frequently. Replace it, make sure you use a bit of silicone lube when you put everything back together. The local pool shop should have the replacement gaskets, no big deal.
