I currently started an above ground pool package we purchased at Sam's Club. It has the little pump on the side that uses filters. My problem is I had some algae and killed it and now my water is clear, but I can't get the gunk off the bottom. The vaccum it came with hooks to a hose and has a little bag that does not suck all that crap in. My water gets murky and the next day is clear. How do I get this stuff off the bottom without a backwash type filter/ vaccum????

Purchase a Poolbuster Vacuum for about $185

Ditto-- PoolBuster. I'm only assuming you have a pop-up, blow up ring type pool. If so, the PoolBuster will get everything (order the fine silt filter and some socks) and you won't mess up your filter trying to vac through it, or loose water trying to vac to waste. Nothing else ever worked for us like thing does... only drawback (I bought the whole package from pooldoctor that is made for intex pop-ups) is the cost. Cost me more than the pool. But, it should outlive the pool and I plan on using it on our next upgrade.

It works quite well in an IG, too.... :)

Ok what about without buying a filter/pump thingy? Is there a way? I can not see spending $185 on a pump when the whole pool set cost $260. It has a pump but no vac to waste feature.... just sucks in water from the skimmer and it goes through a filter you can replace at walmart and then pumps it back into the pool. To vacuum it you have to attach a hose to this head thing with a bag on it, turn the hose on, and hope you get suction, AND it does not get all the little dirt/dead algae off the bottom.

YOu can do that. Just disconnect the return hose and let it drain onto the ground. This will waste the junk onto the ground and not put it back into your pool. Refill back to level and you're done.

There are several threads under Intex that explain ways to set up vac systems to do this through your pump.
