Hi all. In using bioguard strip kwik to clean our sand filter, a little got into the pool and the label on the bottle says NOT to get it in the pool. It wasn't much and a little foaming happened. I added clarifyer and put sparkle up in the filter to try to get it out. Seems to be working. My question is, "Is the pool safe to use"? Surely a pool chemical wouldn't be a health hazard would it?

I don't think you'll find much help here on the use of poolstore "magic bullet" products like clarifier, Sparkle-Up or filter cleaners. We don't need those products with our pools because we don't add the stuff that causes dirty filters or cloudy water.

As to a health hazard, many if not most pool chemicals are very hazardous. Talk to your pool store for an MSDS or call Bioguard.

The MSDS is online. It looks like something I wouldn't want to drink. :D

They don't list it as a carcinogen and you put a "small amount" in a huge volume of water. Obviously they must figure some small amount will find it's way into the pool from the filter.

Are we talking a tablespoon here?
