Typically I lower the total alkalinity with acid, and it always stays in line with my ph, however now my ph is around 7.5 but my total alkalinity is around 170, how do I get this down without adding acid? Or do I have to get it down and then raise the PH?

Browse around on Poolsolutions.com and you will find the answers. It consists of lowering pH with acid, then aerating the pool water to reduce alkalinity.

The process is to lower both PH and alkalinity with acid and then to bring up the PH with aeration. Here is a link:

That's what I meant to say, but I think I needed a comma to seperate the reducing alkalinity part. Maybe I shoulda proofread it.:confused:
