FC 3.6
CC 0.2
Ph 7.2
CYA 50-60
Calcium 140

This is a 3 week old gunite pool (25K gallons). I had been operating off a Guardex 4-way test and adjusting chlorine and Ph based on that until my K-2006 came today, and I think all is well. Sounds like I might want to lower CYA a bit next spring after we lower water levels for winter prep and then refill in spring.

Any other thoughts?

What's your Total Alkalinity (TA)?

Nice numbers...good work! If you don't have a SWG, you might consider chlorinating with Cal Hypo. It's a nice slow way to bring your Calcium up a bit (maybe 250ppm) and it's a convenient chlorinator. Happy Swimming!

What is SWG? I am guessing that it is salt water chlorine generator; if so, I don't have one.

I will look into Cal Hypo tomorrow. Is that a brand name or a generic chemical?

trauh ,

Its calcium hypochlorite.. any brand will do , just DONT get the stuff that has stabilizer (cyanuric acid ) in it,, you already have enough ;)

I found cal-hypo in the form of HTH. It looks like HTH shock comes in 1 pound bags (around 60% chlorine). Using bleachcalc it says that I need to use 0.4 gallon of 6% bleach to raise chorline 1 ppm. How much HTH does that equate to?

Also, can I use HTH tablets in the skimmer as a way to maintain the pool when I travel for 4 or 5 days?
