Question for a friend about return fittings . . .

How common is it to have return fittings or eyballs or whatever you call them left off a gunite pool. Just plaster sort of indented around the return line pvc pipe? Also, is it possible to add the fittings later? Friends internet is down, which is driving him crazy during the build process . . .

Thanks all!!

Alittle more Info would be great. Is this in the middle of construction? Typically most return jets are left off until the finish is put in.

Well, the water is being added right now, so the plaster is done, but I believe he's just waiting on water and the startup person to come out . . .

Thanks!!

hey,
it might just be me or my area of south florida but from what i have seen it is common, most pools mine included just have the diamondbrite indented near the return fitting and left as is. that is just what i have seen in my area pools, some returns have covers some dont. my pool in particular has covers on say 50% of the returns and this is pretty common for pools in my area.

hope that helps somewhat? lol

The eyeball fitting you can add to the flush cut pipe outlets is called an inside inlet return fittings. It fits inside the return pipe. I got mine at http://www.reedsconstructionspecialties.com/wwpoolfit.htm

The eyeball fittings were put on by the plaster crew as they finished their work on our pool. However, the startup person installed them in the spa after the water was added. My neighbor's pool was done the same way.

The startup guy put them in . . . I didn't realize that they could just be hammered in after the plaster was put in . . . pretty neat!! There was no threading on the return pipes, so my buddy was getting pretty worried . . .

Thanks everyone!!!
