I have a 20x40 IG vinyl pool, I am using the PS233 test kit.

Here are my results:

FC=2
CC=0
TC=5
PH=7.5
ALK=60
CYA=5

Temp: 88

The water looks pretty clear. My ALK level seems a bit low? What should I bring it up to? Overall how do the results look?

Thanks...

Is that CYA = 5 correct or a typo?

That's 5, I know I need to add stabilzer. Is that what I ask for at the pool store?

Thanks...

The PS233 only tests 20ppm at the lowest. How did you get that result?. I'm not badgering.....it just needs clarification before anyone recommends anything else.

It is a guess based upon where (nearly the top) I was unable to see the black dot.

Thanks...

Okay, I understand, now.

I would recommend adding enough stabilizer (also called CYA or Cyanuric Acid) to get to 30ppm. Dosage will be on the container and you can get it at Lowe's/HD or any pool store.

I would also add 10 lbs of baking soda to get somewhere around 100ppm for Alkalinity.

I would up the Cl just a little and keep it between 3-5ppm.
