I just wanted to say a huge thanks to the forum and Ben for helping me out in the process of lowering my alkalinity.

I started out with 370 and in 4 days I managed to get it down to 130. The sticky thread outlining the procedure WORKS! It sure worked for me! The toughest part of the job was to convince the wife that pouring 5 gallons of muriatic acid into the pool over the past 4 days is fine and we will not be oxidized to the bone if we go swimming. :D

I'm a really happy camper now in terms of alkalinity and it's all thanks to this forum and Ben's kit!

My starting point was:
pH - 7.2
TA - 370
TC - 15
CYA - 0
CAL - 170
Temp - 75

My current spot is:
pH - 7.5
TA - 130
TC - 2
CYA - 25
CAL - 170
Temp - 91

Had the same problem with my future wife. I dropped mine from 210-220 to 150-160 in about 10 hours.

Wow!

Doesn't that make y'all eligible for some sort of advertising contract with Jenny Craig or Slimfast or some such??

I agree that it works. My ALK was 600+ when I filled it July4th from a 350+ foot well. Did the aeration thing for a week and got it down to 200-250. It seemed like I couldn't get it to go any lower. I just ran the full list of test(PS234) and my ALK=170. Not sure what happened, but I'll take it.
