Appreciate your site. Switched to BBB and water sparkles!

I started using DE and a skimmer sock as suggested in the forum and have seen the sand filter full of air after running for a day or two. Found the sock to be cause of air bubbles that were created from the water moving through it.

When the pump shutsdown, this air inside the filter forces water back into the pool through the skimmer along with all of the fine stuff that was caught in the sock.

Is this typical? Thank you.

Sounds like your water level may be too low, at what point up the skimmer is your water?

That is the only time I ever get that to happen to me too. When the water level is too low then the skimmer cannot keep up with the pump and it pulls air into it. Air seems to compress differently than water, I have noticed that alot with testing watermains. But I keep my water around center or a bit higher on the skimmer, I feel that is where it works best. I don't use the sock by the way though. I have been watching for any issues to come up before I look into it.

Thank you for the suggestion. Will increase water level and post results.

The sock catches pollen and fine dirt so I am hopeful that raising the water level will solve the air problem.

I increased the water level in the skimmer and the problem with air in the pump is gone. Thank you for the suggestion.

Glad to hear it, the first time that happened to me it blew the top cover off of the skimmer and water exploded everywhere. I was scared that something was seriously wrong. lol
