What is your actual Total Chlorine reading (Free Chlorine and Combined Chlorine would be better) and CYA?

I had a problem too raising up my PH and found out that since my CYA was so high (100) it was counting towards my Alkalinity. So I raised my Alk first and then the PH started to rise after adding Borax. Seems though no matter how much I add my pool likes to be right about 7.5 for PH. I also use trichlor pucks which I've read can wreak havoc on PH.

The following thread talks about how to adjust your Alk if you have high CYA levels.

Your Alk may be keeping the Ph stable where it's at.. that's a guess from a newbie. One idea I have though, have you pointed your eyeball (jets) straight up to aerate the water? That raised my Ph for me.

ccc,

I'll bet your test only goes as low as 6.8 pH so you were probably much lower to start. Keep adding the borax....one box at a time.....it'll start to move when you get enough in there.

Alk is fine and your result of "hi" for chlorine is to indeterminate to have an opinion.
