Poop in Pool. What to do?

:eek: Ok.... not mine. I was just reading more up on pool vs germs of all kinds.

To find out more what poop can do to you or some on in your pool you might have to ask to please wipe ya butt.

Anyways here is the info I found and should be very helpfull and to realize even in your own private pool w/ friends over to make sure poop is not a matter. :eek:

Guys remember that was in a water park commercial pool environment. In that environment it is more difficult to locate the pool pooper so it is precautionary to treat all poops as possible source of poop perpetuated illness. In a private environment it is much easier to identify the pool pooper and test for any illness others may have acquired. The pros here preach adequate chlorine levels witch will help cover some poop problems. As the article states that the solid poops are not as much worry as the liquid ones so if you see a brown cloud in the water be cautious and possibly shock the crap out of the water.:D

This is why I am TOTALLY against any non-chlorine form of pool sanitation: I do not believe that any other method is proven to sanitize water against fecal contamination.

This is also why I prefer to run higher levels of chlorine in my pool than is "universally" recommended and follow the guidelines Ben established here. I try NOT to stay at the lower end of chlorine guidelines, just in case. I consider it "acceptable risk".

The water-borne diseases discussed are nasty but they aren't nearly as bad as the ones that, even through the early 20th century in America and Canada, were a risk: Cholera, Typhoid, Typhus, Ameobic Dysintery --all deadly killers and STILL a risk in the 3rd world.

Notice further, that to kill Crypto, our recommended shock levels should do it in 16 hours (they show that for FC of 15--our CYA = 30 - 50 shock level).

Crypto is one of the hardest to kill. When purifying drinking water, you have to leave the water for several hours to ensure its death.
