At-Risk?????

At the risk of jinxing myself and the pool I am checking in to let you all know how things are going. I have had our new 20x40 IG 25000 gal vinyl pool going now since mid June using info from this site and help from you guys/gals. Once starting up and getting the water adjusted I have had very little changes in water chemistry. My ph remains constant at 7.6, the chlorine fluctuates with use and sunny days pretty much as is to be expected, and alkalinity is hanging tight at 80. I have not tested ch that much because of the lack of a swg or heater and vinyl pool but it stays pretty much the same (can't remember the # right now it is written down though). Stabilizer is at 30 currently. Even the temp of the water is staying right at 84-86 degrees all the time.
I guess my question is should I be worried or am I just very fortunate so far? I was expecting a nightmare of chemical adding and so forth. I am becoming concerned that the testing I am doing is not telling me everything I need to know and a sleeping giant is hiding in this pool somewhere.

If your test are consistent and look as good as you say and your water looks crystal clear, then there is only one more test that could be done.

Seriously though, I know what you mean. You were expecting a lot of work and adjustment. It sounds like you, like myself, found this forum early enough to avoid trouble on the front end. Congratulations and enjoy.

I have even had the wife help with the test for fear that I'm color blind or something. I guess we both are because she gets the same results I'm getting. Water looks great, feels great and liner is staying squeaky clean. Of course my 8 year old brushes it every other day:D and the polaris gets most of the leaves that I let it get and I use a sponge every third or forth day to clean the steps.

I had the same fears. I was thinking this is too d@mn easy!! I firmly agree with the 2-5 mins a day edict as that has helped me avoid any serious pool problems so far.

CDO, this is just an unfortunate byproduct of comming here and beleiving that pools don't have to be expensive (to maintain) nor a nightmare, however it's easily removed - just start going to the pool store and buying everything they try to sell you (actually get 3 of everything and add it all at once, it'll speed up the process) ;)
Congrats on caring enough to spend the 2 -5 min/ day to protect your investment, the ease is just payback for your having good sense! - Waste

A pool is very easy to maintain if you have the knowledge to do it right! This forum is the place to get that knowledge!

I have to say that without the information from you guys/gals that help out people I would be in bad shape. I am still very incompetent when it comes to pool upkeep but usually I can find an answer just from doing a search here. I want to thank everyone that shares the information and knowledge they have to people like me that don't have a clue. It gives me some confidence that things will be alright no matter what happens.
