I have a new pool with a new AquaRite system. Pool builder put salt in the pool for me on Wednesday. Control panel shows HI salt and won't generate. My test kit (PS234S) shows 3800 ppm salt. AquaRite unit shows 4300 before it goes to Hi salt. Is it normal for these systems to be inacurrate?
I pumped out some water and am adding as that appears to be the only way to reduce salt.
Any wisdom here? This is all new to me, first pool and first SWG.
Thanks

Same thing happened to me when my aqualogic was installed. Had to pump out water to get the salt level down. The Goldline units will show high salt when the level is above about 4500 ppm. Also if the temp is very high they will think the salt level is higher than it acutally is. Try shutting off power to the unit and restarting it. This might reset it if the high salt conditon no longer exists. Sometimes, when the salt is first added some undissolved salt flows through the cell and causes the high salt condition but it goes away when all the salt is fully dissolved.

Thanks for the reply. I think the salt is fully disolved as its been in the pool 4 days. I no longer see any on the bottom. Putting is some fresh water should lower the temp a little, it had been 85 degrees.

I have an above ground pool with a gold line SWG. I would try resetting the unit. You can do this by turning off the power to the unit. I got a low salt reading one time after 6 inch plus rain and had to add salt and reset. You should be just the opposite! To bring down the salt level you will have to drain and refill and reset the unit.
I always check my salt with a salt test kit before doing anything.

Beleive it or not. My pool took almost a week initially for the salt level to stabilize. It looked all dissoved also but my levels continued to rise for a few more days.

Thanks all.
All seems well now. I drained some and added water. This brought down the salt and the temp and it is generating now.
