We have a 24ft round above ground.

We recently started on the Snap kit made by Synergy which is a nice convenient chemical regimen, however the only way to stay stocked up on is to buy kits, as we haven't found individual items locally anywhere.

Anyways..... We were told to use Omni Breakout 60 as our weekly shock stuff. Using 3/4c. for a 15000 pool.

On the bottle of breakout 60 it states "1 #" for a 20000 gal pool weekly...

????

Does anyone use this as a shock treament and if so what calculations do you follow?

Thanks,
Tracey

If you look at a few of the pool suppliers pages that sell the Synergy supplies, it appears that they are just your basic expensive pool chems tossed into a kit. As far as I can tell Omni Breakout 60 is just dichlor. Yes you can shock with it. If you do a search on the forum for dichlor you will find out what the advantages and disadvantages are to using it. Dichlor will work as a shock as will anything that will raise the level of available chlorine in your pool.

You might want to look at the basics of the BBB method, because it will probably save you a ton of money in the long run.

The synergy tabs are probably (can't be sure because couldn't find the chemical composition listed anywhere) just trichlor, and I am 99% sure the "initiator" is CYA.

The consistent manufacturer instructions are 1lb of "breakout 60" for a 20K gallon pool. The only way you are really going to be able to tell what is an appropriate shock level is to check your chlorine level accurately.

I'm betting those kits are costing much more in the long run then a good test kit and some basic chemicals.
