Hello Everyone,
I was very excited today to receive my PS234 testkit. After spending the last month reading as many past posts as possible I feel very greatful that there are so many volunteer helpers out there to help newbies. One month ago my inground, Pebble Tec 34,500 gal. pool was finished. We have been testing the water morning and night with the cheapie OTO/pH kit that has already faded on the pH chart. Anyway, we've been adding about a gallon of bleach per night over this past month and muriatic acid as it seemed necessary. I tested today with the new kit and here is what I got:

FC 1.5
CC 0.5
TC 2
pH 7.0-7.1
Alk 65-70
Cal 100
Cya 0
Temp 85

How do these numbers look?

Thanks for any help a head of time:)

Hi,

You need to add some stabilizer and more chlorine to your pool. "bleachcalc" will do the math for you. Download it and put it on your desktop.

1. I'd recommend adding enough stabilizer to bring you up to 30-40ppm. You may decide to go higher later.

2. I'd also maintain the FC level around 3-5ppm. Consider chlorinating with a 50lb drum of Cal Hypo. It's very convenient and you need to get your Calcium up around 200-300 or so.

3. No lower on the pH....maybe 7.2 -7.6 would be a little better. Your Alk will come up along with the pH...that's fine.

None of your numbers are really BAD , but you'll get a Gold Star if you make these adjustments!:D
