Yes/No: Sequestering Agent. Switching from Pristine Blue to BBB.

I was told not to worry about using a sequestering agent when we convert since we have a 24' AG vinyl pool. I suppose the idea is that vinyl won't stain. But after reading a newer post:

I'm confused whether we should use a sequestering agent when we convert. I want to switch with as little down time as possible. Could some of those veterans out there clarify this for me? Thanks, Les.

I personally would use the sequestrant--vinyl pools WILL stain just like other pools will. However, I've not had to deal with copper in my water. I'm going to alert mbar (Marie), who is the resident expert (next to Ben, of course!) on metals and staining. I'd go with her advice.

I would use a sequestering agent - vinyl pools do stain, although not as easily as fiberglass or gunite. Just to be on the safe side - it won't hurt, and it will bind up any copper that is left from the pristine blue. Sometimes the water just turns a light green from the copper too, and the sequestering agent will stop this also. Please ask any more questions you may have.

Your right AndieP, your dialog with Marie in the link you provided was really good. It really answered some of my questions and I feel I'm ready to go now. I've got the Taylor K-2006C kit and I've been practicing testing ph and TA. I think I've got the hang of it. I'm going to get some sequestering agent to be on the safe side. Thanks everyone for your help.
