We're going to attempt to DIY with a small in-ground swimming pool and was wondering if anyone knew of a good website that would assist us and answer the many questions we have.

:) this is it, as far as i know.
post what questions you may have and I'm sure our members will help in any way they can.
We have a 16x32 IG that was shut down many, many years ago and covered with a wooden structure (floor joists, plywood and roofing material) we have been well informed as to the basics and thru the pics posted have a good idea as to what it takes to operate a large pool. go thru the archives and maybe youll find so usefull info. The thing most helpfull to me was we have a structure to work with and getting to that point is (I think) you're biggest obstacle. good luck!

We DIY'ed our own IG vinyl liner pool last summer BEFORE we found this site. I did a lot of Interent research on many sites. Do not remember one that was any better than the others. Many sites sell IG vinyl kits. Most of these have information on the process through photos and you can download how to manuals for different brands of pools.

What kind are you planning to build because vinyl is all I know anything about building?

Try this site if you are talking about a gunite pool:

I believe the author is a poolforum member, and he built one heck of a pool. Good luck!

In addition to this forum, which I wish we'd discovered earlier, we found Pool Warehouse had pool building information available online, http://www.poolwarehouse.com/PDF/online-install-guide.pdf

And I recall that we got a lot of information from this site:

http://www.northwestwholesale.com/

Lots of people here have done it themselves, also. Just ask! Jo

We DIY'ed our pool and bought it from www.nationalpoolwholsalers.com which has a lot of information also. We installed a Hydra polymer (25x44) inground vinyl liner pool.

Holy SmackZ!!!

I am getting the Grecian 17x33 w/ still walls and 20ml liner. I am amazed how much the material costs only. What a killer on price for a DIY'er
