OK, My Hayward chlorine feeder, I can hardly turn the top because of old silicon grease. This stuff gets nasty with age. I tried rubbing, to no avail. My LPS didn't have anything to remove this old stuff. What pray tell is there to remove this old silicone grease from the threads?

Hi there, The best stuff I have found to remove anything like that, is a product called Goo Gone. It works on everything from grease, adhesives, glue.....all of it. I buy it in a spray bottle, the gel type so it hangs on real well and it has a nice orange smell too. Hope this helps!

Well I had Goof Off, but when I tried a small spot, it seemed to eat at the plastic, so probably not a good choice. Could not find Goo Gone, but someone suggested WD-40. So bought a can of that, and worked like a charm. Didn't eat the plastic, cut the silicon grease residue, life is good.
