I seem to be adding 3/4 to 1 gallon a day just to keep my chlorine level where Ben's chart says it should be. Is this the norm with others?

Thanks
John

How big is your pool? How many gallons?

Another good thing to mention is your location and how much sun your pool gets.

What you post sounds about right. You'll need to shock to get rid of the CC too.

My pool is an AG 24 round, 15K gallons. It get the sun most of the day but the solar cover is on when not in use. The water temp has been around 78-80 the last few days. I shocked it on sunday to 14ppm. Tuesday it was 4ppm, I added 3/4 gallon bleach last night and this after noon it was back down to 3ppm.
I seem to be going through several gallons of bleach a week just trying to keep it between 5-6ppm.

Since I have a Vinyl liner I wont shock above 15ppm so im not sure if that has something to do with it. My next step is to drain some water any try working with my cya 20-30.
Thanks'
John

You might try raising your CYA a little and see if that helps. I run mine intentionally high because my pool is in full sun all day in very hot temps.

Janet,
How high do you run your CYA level? I am in the Charlotte, NC area. I keep mine around 55-60.

I keep it 80-90. I have no trees around the pool therefor it's in direct sun (Louisiana sun!) all day, and I have a large daily swimmer load. If I keep it any lower, I can't keep chlorine in the pool.
