I have a walmart HTH testing kit and recently purchased some Taylor PH reagent from the pool store. I tested tonight with the Taylor reagent and either my PH is waayy off (like doesn't match the chart at all) or the Taylor is a different color than the old HTH reagent. Does anyone know? I figured all reagents are the same but that's probably not correct. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I had a problem with high readings with the walmart kit. I have 2 other test kits that came with the pool that were close to each other so I dumped the walmart kit. It didnt agree with the pool store or other kits on Ph or total hardness.
Post a set of results and the pros here will be able to help you better.
Are you using the same color chart for each ???

I'm using the color chart that came with the HTH kit. I can't post results because the color doesn't really match anything on the chart. I think I'll see if I can find a Taylor color chart tomorrow, that must be the problem.

You really need to use the proper reagent . Taylor makes several that are used with different comparators. I will bet that the reagent you bought is R-0004. the one you need is R-0014. R-0004 is meant to be used with a 45 ml water sample in a large comparator tube like the one in the Taylor k-2005 and K-2006. R-0014 is meant for small comparator tubes like the one in your kit.
