I'm cramming my brain in final stage of purchasing an AG 12'x24'x52" oval. I ran across a the "Pool Genie" pool purifier system as part of an accessory package.
After reading numerous posts about BBB vs. non-chlorine alternatives I am skeptical. I can probably have poolproducts pull the Genie out of the bundle but I'd like to know if this stuff has merits or not.
Sales pitch intro:
Pool Genie® is a synthesized derivative from anti-bacterial and proprietary products that helps control fungi, algae, and bacteria. These formulations are blended into non-toxic gels that purify and condition your water, drastically reducing the need for chlorine, bromine, or other sanitizers. Genie brand gels sequester nutrients, namely phosphates and nitrates, from which most algae and bacteria feed and thrive. Genie gels are super effective in keeping your water crystal clear while saving you the ravaging effects of most harsh sanitizers.
Initial Research:
http://www.poolinfo.com/specialty-chemicals.htm lists Pool Genie as specialty chemical but has no description.
Google and MSN Search came up empty
Only reference I found quickly was sales page http://www.poolproducts.com/-i-CHM-ALL-POOL-GENIE.htm
After additional searches I think PoolProducts is only place selling this stuff.
www.poolforum.com (http://www.poolforum.com) search didn't find any related Genie info. (Maybe BC (Before-Crash) but I found this forum AC (After Crash).)
After reading the other posts on this forum I won't experiment without some expert advice. I'm pretty much a pool & forum n00b despite my reading at least 100 posts so far over the last several days.
