I have a 17K gallon AG pool. This year I started using the pucks in an in-line feeder.

I have had a few problems with algea. I turned my feeder on Max all week to kep the algeas under control.

When I did a pH test this weekend... it was 3.5 WOW ! I know this is EXTREMELY acidic.

I added two box of 20 Mule team Borax.... the pH moved to 3.8.

So i went ahead and added a 10# pail of soda ash. Let the filter run all night.

I have to check the pH today and I'll report back.

But I've never read of anyone with such a low pH, what else beslides the pucks could have made it so low.

BTW.. I'm using a pH meter which I know is correct since I calibrated it twice and check my spa too, it's working fine.

Thanks, Tim

What is your TA. I suspect it is very low to cause that kind of pH bounce. The soda ash will also raise your TA along with the pH so check both!

Has to be a testing issue. How are you measuring it?

I'll have to check my TA.

I'm testing using a digital meter. I Double checked the calibration twice and it's fine.

I also tested my spa.... fine.... and house water.... fine.... normal readings.

I will say, that I checked the pH this afternoon and it was up to 6.5. So I aded 8 more pounds of soda ash. After 4 hours it now is ok with a reading of 7.6.

I can only assume it was those pucks.... I'll keep the auto feeder turned down more.

Thanks, Tim

It might be best to test against liquid test kit, it seems far too low.
