We bought a 24’ 48” marquis. I plan on using the BBB method. Any tips or tricks to master this? Any must haves for the pool? I bought a tester kit and skimmer socks

I assume the pool is filled?
24' x 48 => 11,800 gallons (unless the bottom is dished). PF=10.1
1 gallon of PLAIN (no flavor, no gel, no scent) 6% bleach will add (0.5 x 10.1) ppm of chlorine or ~5 ppm)
1 gallon of 10% pool bleach will add (0.85 x 10.1) ppm of chlorine or ~ 9 ppm.
pH UP adjustment dose = 1 cup measure of borax
pH DOWN adjustment dose = 1/2 cup measure of muriatic acid

So . . .

If you can find this HTH 6-way (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B01JLY4KEM/poolbooks/) at Walmart, get one. Otherwise order one from Amazon. (Yes, you'll want both).

While you are at Walmart, buy: 1x box 20-Mule-Team-Borax (https://www.walmart.com/ip/20850525)
2x gallons Pool-Essentials-Chlorinating-Liquid (https://www.walmart.com/ip/48938023) OR
4x gallons Great-Value-Cleaning-Bleach-128-fl.oz. (https://www.walmart.com/ip/43888100)
1x HTH-6-Way-Test-Kit (https://www.walmart.com/ip/101959375)

Test your pool in the EVENING. Make SURE the pump is OPERATING.

If chlorine level is below 2 ppm, add 1 gallon of bleach or 1/2 gallon of pool bleach.
If pH is below 7.2, scatter 1 cup measure of borax in the pool.
If the pH is above 7.8, you will need some acid from Lowes or Home Depot. Read the "Using muriatic acid" article linked in my blue signature.
Report results and actions in THIS thread.
ALSO, list any chemicals that have ALREADY been added.

Good luck!

PS. If you got a salt system with the pool, take it back if at all possible. No matter what you're told, salt systems will DESTROY AG pools!
