I got 5 enclosed 3x8 solar panels for free from a friend. Total 120 sq foot of area.
My IG pool is 20x40.

Will I get enough heat from these to make it worth plumbing them?

I do get great sun for most of the day, and they will be mounted on a flat roof of my cabana.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

from what I read it is typically recommended to have solar panels with an area of 50%-75% of the surface area of your pool.

It depends on your location, the orientation of the panels and the desired increase in temperature.

By enclosed, do you mean they are covered by a piece of glass? If so, these are much more efficient (and expensive) than your typical pool panel, and don't need to be as large.

Yes, they are enclosed, although it is a plastic material, not glass. And I am sure they were quite expensive.

I ended up plumbing them in and I am definitely generating some nice free heat with them.

Thanks,

Jeff
