We have owned an above ground 28ft 52 inch deep Dough Boy pool for the last 4 years. Last year we started having an Algaecide problem, and our liner was already faded out to white, so my wife wanted a new liner so we had a new liner installed and she thinks I added to much shock and tablets to the pool which faded the liner out. Well this year our problem is about 2 weeks ago the pool started getting cloudy. And I started talking to some people that own pools and they told me the PH was to low. So I tested it with strips and it was and I wasn't getting any Chlorine reading either but added 3 bags of shock and had 2 tablets in the skimmer and 2 in a floater. So I threw some PH increase and a bottle Algaecide to it and it cleared up some and so much stuff settled to the bottom so last night vacuumed the pool for over an hour. I had algaecide on the steps so I pulled that out to let that stuff dry out and before putting that back in I will bleach it out. So after that I threw 2 more bags of shock and a half of bottle of algaecide in it and it then went a little cloudy again! I back washed 3 times and then just started pump to waste while vacuuming! Called a buddy and he said the algaecide I bought from Wal mart wasn't any good to order some other stuff. So what am I doing wrong?
