Having all kinds of issues opening my pool this year! My dog accidentally fell in the pool over winter and ripped the winter cover! He's ok! So all of the nasty fermenting leaves and dirty water on top of the cover went into the pool. At first the water was black now its green. My issue is that I'm having to take my filter ( Hayward Perplex DE filter with fingers, not grids) apart two or three times a day to clean it. I'm not sure how old the fingers are in the filter. I bought the house 4 years ago and have been using them since I bought the house. When I first start the pump and filter after cleaning the filter, my pressure at the filter will be at 8. After a few hours the pressure goes up to 20. I'll backwash at that point and the pressure will drop to 12 or so. It'll run for another hour then back up to 20 again. When the pressure at the pump and filter is at 20, I have no suction at the skimmer and hardly any pressure with water going back into the pool. This system takes some work to take it apart and wash it then put it back together. I'm just not sure if these fingers go bad? They don't seem to be working no matter how often I clean them. I've opened this pool in the past and started the pool up with algae in it and I've never had to clean these fingers more often than every 3 days or so when the water is green. I'm not sure what to do, considering buying new fingers for the filter. Any help would be appreciated!
