Is there a difference is the quality of chemicals such as stabilizer and Calcium?

Have purchased from different pool supply websites as well as pool stores. Big variations in prices. I also heard that I need to beware of purchasing chemicals in the "big name" stores because they get their products from china and there is no quality control. Is this true?
