Hi, I have an 18' round above ground summer escapes pool (Intex style). I have purchased a way over sized sand filter off Craigslist, it is a #175 sand filter with a horse and half pump. It has been cleaning my pool well. My filter when clean runs at 10 P.S.I. the tank has a max pressure of 50 P.S.I.. The threads on this forum suggest only adding DE til the P.S.I. rises by 1. I am currently running it with enough D.E. to raise my P.S.I. by 5. There is no set standard for my filters operating range for the P.S.I. as I have seen in you tube videos and such with markers on the pressure gauge for clean P.S.I. and dirty P.S.I.. The raise in pressure slows the flow a bite and seem like the system works better with the 5 P.S.I. raise from the D.E.. Is it bad for me to do this and operate the filter from 15 P.S.I. w/ D.E. clean to 25 P.S.I. dirty? Is there other potential problems I'm not seeing that can be caused by using more D.E.?

Thanx for any input
