View Full Version : pH Test
I am using 2 Taylor test kits. One is the OTO/pH and the other is FAS-DPD which contains procedures for a lot of different tests. The reading for pH is consistently higher (7.8) on the simple OTO/pH test kit than the more complex Taylor Kit (7.2). This is water from the same sample. Does anyone have a similar experience or does this differece even matter. I appreciate your thoughts

I would trust the FAS-DPD test kit more than the OTO but a good test would be to test a sample with both your test kits then take the same sample water to a couple pool stores. The law of averages *should* help you determine the most accurate number.

intersting. I have a Taylor k-2005 which uses the same pH reagent as the K-2006 (large comparator with 45 ml sample for pH test) and I have Ben's ps234s which has the Taylor pH/OTO test kit in it. I get basically identical results from the two tests. Are you sure you are using the correct reagents for each test? The pH reagent in the K-2006 (which I assume you have) is also used for acid and base demand tests and is different than the one in the K-1000 (or Ben's ps200) and if you use the wrong one you might get wierd results.
