Hayward 220 Chlorinator

The plastic cover where the in line connects came off my chlorinator. Its not threaded does anyone know if it should be glued on or caulked with a waterproof caulk? Reccomendations for glur or caulk ?
I know - BBB - I generally use bleach but I need to add stabalizer and this is an effective way to get my stabilizer up :)

I glued it back together with PVC glue seems to holding and working in case anyone else gets into this predicament.
