36,000 gallon
salt chlorination
cartridge filter

Every spring when I open the pool it is a green mess. I follow the instructions
here http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/showthread.php/5911-Closing-an-IG-pool-for-the-Winter
to close it. Like normal I have no CYA when opening, 0 Chlorine, low PH. I opened the pool got the CYA up to 35, PH up to 7.5, pump running 24/7 and chlorine levels at 15ppm. I have dumped 40 gallons of chlorine in the pool before relying on the salt system to chlorinate. I have been keeping the chlorine level at 15ppm.

My current numbers are

FC 13
CC .5
PH 7.5
Alk 70
Cal 30
CYA 35

Pool is still cloudy. I can see the drain in the bottom end now but it has been open for days and normally it never takes more than 7. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe I am being impatient.

Have you shocked your pool? I would do that first to get rid of the CC. Clean you filter if you haven't recently. I have had the same issue and have had to use a clarifier so far this season. But I have a sand filter and it seems to struggle to get the smallest particles that cause the cloudiness. Keep your pump running 24/7. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I was under the assumption that 15 ppm was a shock level for my cya. How high is considered shock?

Yes, 15 is your shock level. I think patience is the thing...!
