I've read tons of helpful stuff on here and decided to join. I hope to start a new pool build here in the next month.

Welcome to the cool kids table! I bought a house that already had a pool several years ago and found this site before I closed the deal. Best thing I ever did was read a lot before I had the pool. All the reading was easy because I was excited about the prospect.

Anyway, here's my recommended reading list. You'll end up having less hassle and laying out considerably less money for pool care if you learn from these docs.

You can probably get through all three in a half hour depending on how fast of a reader you are. I've read them all numerous times myself.

One more thing, you'll WANT a test kit called a "Taylor K2006" to test your water. Usually they're not available in local stores (I guess you never know in socal). I'd recommend ordering one ASAP so it arrives before your pool is built. Since you can't click links, I'll just tell you to go to amazon.com and find a Taylor K2006 test kit. There is a similar K-2005 that is cheaper but you do NOT want the 2005. A lot of the users here have ordered theirs from an amazon seller called "amato industries" so we recommend them. Other sellers are probably good as well but that's just who I happened to use last time I needed test stuff.
