What To Expect? (non-closing)

So we do NOT close the pool in the winter. What should I expect over the winter? Do I need to keep the chlorine up to regular standards? I assume the daily loss will go way down? Do I keep testing? How often?

You don't close the pool in NC? Meaning....... you still swim? Or, you just don't cover it? Or ?? Give a little more info and we can better advise you.

We just don't cover it.

I don't cover mine either. Go to the top of the Startup/Shutdown section and read the stickies about closing an inground and also read the one about closing an above ground. The chemistry advice will still be the same for either. After that, if you have more questions, let us know and we will be happy to try and help. :)

I don't close or cover or swim either (southern AZ) but my water level is not drained and I have to keep the pumps and chemistry going all winter long. My pump times go down to ~ 4 hrs/day and I can usually set my SWCG to < 20%. Testing remains roughly the same (1-2 times per week with K-2006 and daily pH/OTO testing with cheapo test kit). Brushing and vacuuming are unchanged.

We don't close either. The pump can run less and chlorine demand drops. I probably use 1/3rd less chlorine and test about 1/3rd as frequently, maybe every 4th or 5th day.
