I'm looking to save a couple hundred dollars and close our in-ground pool myself. I replaced the vinyl liner on it this summer, so I'm a pretty handy person. It's a 16' x 38' rectangle pool. In the past, my fiancé had a pool company do it and I believe they drained the water a couple inches below the jets, to obviously keep the water out of the lines. I've also read elsewhere to keep the water filled right up to the skimmer to allow for the water to keep the pressure on the liner (especially in the corners).
So my question, what are the necessary steps to closing the pool? Should I drain the water down to the jets? Keep the water in? How would I go about blowing out the lines then?
Any help is appreciated.
