Description of Problem:
Could not access control panel functions via the PDA (Remote Control). At the control panel, some LEDs lit. Can't toggle AUTO - SERVICE - TIME OUT modes, or any other panel function. No error code displayed.
Troubleshooting:
1. Performed a "soft" reset. No change.
2. Performed a "Hard" reset. No change.
3. Opened panel. Verified BUS cartridge fuses continuity with a VOM.
4. Visual inspection of PCBs and transformer for damaged components.
5. removed power from the control panel for 30 minutes. Upon restoral of power, controller bootstrapped normally in the SERVICE mode.
Conclusions:
The filter pump was operational in the SERVICE mode. Toggled to AUTO mode and full operation was restored.
The pool and controller are 7 years old. The controller going insane is troublesome, but this band-aid procedure worked. I suspect that a new PCB will be needed in the near future unless anyone has a better idea.
