What is the best method to repair small slices [in ground] liner. It's easy to see where they are because there is a small amount or rust coming thru. The are all less than quarters length and more like a scratch;small.
Does the rust have to be taken care of behind the liner; can a patch be put over the areas. Do you use matching liner material and a special adhesive? Can the deeper [under water]ones be patched under water. Also our step in spa [acrylic] seems to have discolored under the water line to a faint yellow. Is there any way to lighten it back to white. What causes that Any help will be appreciated.

There are underwater patching kits. They make it sound easy but it's tough. If you have liner material, use that. There's a really good underwater glue that out-performs the others, but I forgot its name.

I use a small rubber roller, like a linoleum roller to smooth the patch. I STRONGLY suggest you double-layer the patch. First patch the hole (the thinner patch material is fine). Then may a much larger patch to cover the patch. That way, if there's any loose edge, it still won't leak.

Can't help on the steps.

Someone posted that they got pieces of liner from a pool store that puts in pools. They can probably tell you what glue to use too.

Boxer #100 adhesive in cans with a dauber. The glue that comes with the patch kits is agressive and tends to curl the patch pretty quick. Boxer is slow acting and gives you time to place and squish it properly.

Think we kept some liner and will get adhesive and double patch with adhesive you suggested! Thanks!

We patched a couple of small holes with the underwater kit last summer. (That was a hoot! My hubby is a big man but he couldn't stay down in the water long enough to do the job. He kept floating up! I had to hold him down with the rubber sweeper so he could do it.)

Anyway...I read with interest about using the Boxer adhesive and the curling edges with the usual adhesive. I noticed this year that the patch material (originally clear) is now visible. Is it too late to cover it again with liner material and the Boxer stuff?

Thanks.

No,
Just make a patch that's much larger using some scrap liner material.
