We have had enough issues with people in our past pools with all of the lotions, hair products, and just plain dirt/grass getting into the pool. We wanted something to help keep it tidy, but having a bucket/pan of water or just a plain old hose nearby was sloppy looking. Plumbing in/building a nice shower would be the best idea, but after building/installing the new AG pool, panels, solar reel - wow, where did the $ go?
We found an aluminum based wand sprayer hose attachment that is shaped very similar to the popular natural rain shower heads (called Gentle Shower Wand) and has a 32" handle on it with a twist on/off on the handle ($6). A simple Y shutoff valve attachment ($2) to the hose hydrant, ran an extra hose ($9) over to the site up through a 1 1/2" pvc pipe, secured with some clamps, mounted adjacent to 4 12x12x2" patio blocks ($1.29 each). The blocks are laid with a slope runoff to the yard/woods so there is no standing water near the pool, all is close enough to the pool entrance to clean off and jump in.
It doesn't look bad either - actually kind of decent and the blocks match those around the area! The "shower" is not technically heated, but after sitting in the hose for any amount of time, its usually fairly warm or at worse, tolerable for the few seconds it takes to rinse off for the pool! So far it works, in practice with a LOT of teenagers or guests, we don't know. Its gotta be an improvement over that pan of water we used to dip our feet in - YUCK!
