I am about to purchase my 1st AG pool (24' round) from The Pool Factory. I want to use salt water in it and the salesman is suggesting the "Saltwater 8000" pool. Is it necessary to purchase the "Saltwater 8000" pool when using saltwater or can I purchase a regular AG pool and use saltwater in it? (ex. regular 24' round pool "Quest") I have friends who have regular AG pools that they converted to saltwater and when purchased new weren't designed as saltwater pools. Thanks for any advice.

The key here will be in the warranty and materials. You have to make sure your warranty allows for salt. Otherwise using salt could void the warranty. For example if the pool sides are made of untreated steel they will likely rust prematurely. That "saltwater 8000" is likely to be made of some other material or at least coated with something to protect it.

Since you're up north you should also be aware of this. If you decide to heat the pool you'll need to get a heater that is compatible with salt as well. Copper heat exchangers without a nickel or some other coating will corrode and fail prematurely with salt water.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck with your new pool!
