Hi all. Glad to have found the forum here. I set up my first pool ever (8' intex vinyl), and after having my tap water tested the first day I had the following:

FC 1.5
TC 1.5
CH 150
CYA 0
TA 150
PH 7.7
Phos 300

At that time I purchased a Chlorine and PH test kit from Leslie

I added 1.4 oz of Muriatic acid last night to work on the TA

Retested today and had TC levels near 0 according to my kit, and PH at 7.5

I decided to add chlorine and used poolcaclulator to figure out the amount, however when I put my new stats in I neglected to change the pool size from 10000 gal to 640 gal.

I added 18 oz of bleach (way too much) instead of 2 oz.

now my chlorine levels are 10+

How long will I need to wait for levels to drop down naturally to safe levels, or am I just better draining partially/full and starting over.

Thanks a ton!

With no CYA in the water, it won't be long. Don't worry.

An easy way to start up a freshly filled pool is with our Super Simple Start-up Recipe. Read about it here:> http://pool9.net/ssr/

. . . membership updated.

To be a little more specific -- just a few hours of full sun will take your chlorine back down to zero.
