Hey everyone I'm new to the forum. I just bought a house with a 36x18ft inground pool. It has a 3hp Pentair Intelliflo variable speed pump. Right now the pump is set to run 2450 rpm for 10 hours. My question is how long and what speed should I run this pump at. The pool place told me to run it at 2500 for about 4 hours then bring it down to 1500 for 4 hours. With the way the pump is set up it is doing a great job, however, if I could reduce my electric bill by lowering the RPMs that would be ideal. At 2450 Im using 900 watts and at 1500 I use about 300 so theres a big difference between the two speeds. What are your thoughts on how to set this pump. Thank you in advance for any help. By the way my pool is 3.5ft deep at one end and 8ft at the other.

1000 RPM is the most efficient for the Intelliflo. I would try that for 4-6 hours and see how it does. You may need to up the RPM a little to help with skimming.

If you have pool cleaner, you may need the higher speeds for that as well.
