18' A/G - 8200 gals.
Last night I added about 8oz. of muriatic acid to lower my alk which with Ben's kit was 190 and with the 5-way HTH was 240. PH was at 7.2 I aimed the eyeball return (my only option at the moment) to aerate. Running the pump on low continuously. Won't be able to retest until I get home which will be approx. 24 hrs. since adding acid. My question is that my chlorine levels are at at least 5ppm (maybe over) How will this effect my results for lowering alk? How long will this process take and will I end up having to add borax to raise the PH or will that happen on it's own?? Thanks for any replys.

Chlorine of 5 won't affect the process. There is no way to specifically tell how long the alk lowering process takes. It comes down gradually. You may not have to add Borax to raise the ph back up after you get your alk where you want it. You may just be able to 'aerate' it back up. If it doesn't come up, then you can go ahead and add some Borax, but try the aeration first.
