Hi

I'm at a loss of what to do with my pool. We opened it up last weekend after buying a new pump and things were moving along and the green swamp was clearing up. The pool has a white sort of slimy substance floating on the pools surface. We have shocked it and added algaecide and the water is somewhat clear. We have been running the filter for days now and shocking for days and this substance won't go away. I was going to try adding some floc but the issue with that is my pool has a cartridge filter and I have no idea how or if we even can vacuum it to waste. I have a picture of the substance if anyone is interested in seeing it.

Thanks for any input!

You can email the pictures to poolforum@gmail.com, or you can post them by placing them on Picasa, Google Drive, Photobucket, Flickr, etc and using the http://www.poolforum.com/pf2/images/editor/insertimage.png to link to the image.

The most common 'white stuff' people see after cleaning up pools is either bleached leaves and debris floating up OR foamy residue from using low-grade algaecides.

I'm betting foamy residue from low grade algaecide.
