I use to. But now I only do so if I notice a drop in FC and I notice any CC.

Jim is right. As long as your chlorine levels are in line where they should be based on your CYA levels, it isn't really necessary.

I've seen a couple really big storms drop enough tree parts in the pool that I had persistent CC and shocked the pool in response. My pool's pH usually drops after rain.

My pH does, too. We have had a ton of rain here in the past week --- like 3-4 inches. I had to add some Borax the other day which I don't have to do too often since my pH is pretty stable. I have also had to drain my pool twice already this week and may have to do so again this afternoon. Enough already. I may have to build an ark soon. ;)
