have used a power flow xl for 16 years and now on our 2nd replacement valve unit.

10000 gallon round above ground pool.

runs nice for 45 minutes , then gradually the amount of water/flow pressure at pool return drops off and the psi gauge reads around 18 to 20 psi, when normally it runs at a consistent 8 to 12 psi.

the power flo xl head is brand new . just got it today.

we noticed that they no longer put on the air release port like they did years ago.

the diffuser or the connection of the diffuser tube to the bottom of the head unit is what i suspect is an issue. im using a fernco from the 1 1/4" diffuser pvc tube to the 1.5" black bottom stem of the power flo head unit.

its worked beautifully for the last 8 to 10 years that way, but this year something just is not right.

never had these declining flow / increasing psi issues before....

any help is appreciated. i can post pics if helpful

Hi, Steve! :)

I'm hoping that someone here can give you some advice that may help you. Unfortunately this is not a problem that I can help you with though.

But, I did want to say hi and welcome you to the Pool Forum!

Thanks water mom..... Since then we put on a new fernco co necting the diffuser to the PVC tube that goes to the diffuser that sits on bottom of sand canister and started it up again. Seems to be working better now. Will post updates as summer goes along. We have a muskin sand filter by the way....
