Hello Forum,

Any help would be appreciated. I struggled with chemicals last year and would like to keep it clean this summer!

Above ground 24', Vinyl, 16.500 gal. Hayward Sand filter S210T2580, Hayward 1/5 hp pump - CA02-15

hth 6-way drop test results:

Chlorine test - clear, non existent?
pH - 8.0
Alk - 150+ ppm (stopped after 15 drops)
Calc Carb - 150+ ppm (stopped after 15 drops)

Thank you!

Hi!
If you have nothing but clear on the chlorine test, you have no chlorine, too high pH.

As for Alk, you should have kept going. Generally, below 200 is OK for vinyl.
For Calcium, 0-400 is normally OK. Concrete pools are recommended to be 200-400ppm, but vinyl can range from 0 to 500.

HOWEVER, I suspect that your high pH and high alk go together and you need to add acid to bring pH down and bleach to bring FC up.

You COULD use Tri-chlor tablets in a floater for a while--I suspect your CYA, aka Stabilizer is very, very low, and Tri-chlor add chlorine, acid and CYA all at the same time.

That volume seems too high for a 24' AG pool unless it is deeper than normal??
