I am new to this forum so I apologize up front for any mistakes I am making. I have a semi inground 16 x 28 Doughboy pool, Millennium oval high rate sand filter, Aqua Comfort Heat Pump and a power ionizer-hybrid sanitizer.
I would like to know if anyone else uses an ionizer instead of a clorinator and what kind of hook up is being used.
Thanks,

Using an ionizer instead of chlorine guarantees an unsanitary pool.
Copper -- a toxic heavy metal*, believe it or not -- will kill algae, but will not inactive viruses, and will not kill bacteria quickly enough to do any good.
Since we don't support the idea of people in unsanitary pools, we don't really support ionizers without chlorine. And if you add chlorine to copper (or raise the pH) you get stains on pools and green hair on people. We don't really support that, either.
Good luck!
* This is technically true, but is essentially misinformation for the chemically unschooled -- like most of the 'information' about chlorine which appears in the popular press.
