Looking for above ground pool steps that my wife can safely carry a toddler in and out of the pool by herself.
Our pool is a Summer Escapes 17 x 48". We don't have an unlimited budget unfortunately.

I didn't find any slam-dunk type answers.

The most satisfactory solution seems to be something like this:

Confer Plastics A-Frame 7200 AG Pool Safety Ladder (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001RUOUI0/scouscho-20/)
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41CSRjuNXQL._SY450_.jpg (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001RUOUI0/scouscho-20/)

Prices for the Confer model above seem to range from $170 - $280. The most common brand for this type of ladder was Confer Plastics, which claims to be US made, on their website (http://www.conferplastics.com/).

Walmart advertises a similar product, calling it a "Heritage AG Pool Ladder (www.walmart.com/ip/2642579)" which is almost certainly Asian made, for $175. I'd prefer the US product, if possible.

Intex makes some cheaper -- and much less sturdy looking -- replacement ladders. The ladder for 36" to 42" pools (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B004DCANOO/scouscho-20/) is $53; the ladder for 48" to 52" pools (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B004DCANOY/scouscho-20/) is currently $105

They both look like this:

Here's a link to an Amazon search (http://goo.gl/8KEXUJ) for well rated AG pool ladders which are sold by Amazon, rather than 3rd parties. (It's MUCH easier to do returns to Amazon, than to 3rd party sellers.) Regardless of where you buy, I'd read through the reviews on Amazon carefully; some seem to refer to situations like yours.

Good luck

I may have found a solution:

I bought 2 of these at $155 each with free shipping:

I was going to suggest something like that earlier when you first posted your question but since you didn't state that your entry to the pool was from a deck, I assumed you needed an actual ladder that rests on the ground.
