We moved into a new home over the winter with a 24 foot above ground pool. Neither of us have ever had a pool before other than a small Intex pool for the kids. We tried to hire someone to come show us how to open the pool but everyone is booked for weeks so some friends are trying to talk us thru it.

We got the cover off and the equipment out of the shed. It's a Hayward SwimPro Missille Cartridge filter and Hayward pump. Following the model on the filter we can figure out how to hook up the line to the pump and then the pump to the filter, but the return into the pool is puzzling. It has a coupling on it that seems to have two ports, one coming in horizontially and one vertically from the bottom. There is only one additional hose and one port out of the filter, so I'm trying to figure out if we're another part.

Any help is appreciated!

I can't help you with this hookup but hopefully someone will be along soon who may be more familiar with that setup. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to the Pool Forum!

Neither I, nor Google, know what a "Hayward Missille Cartridge Pump" is. Perhaps you can send some pictures to poolforum@gmail.com, to get us started?

Mark, your post nearly made me split a gut! Never looked at one of those that way. I guess it's better than other alternate ways to view it! ;)

Dead ringer to a Trident II missile. Someone at Hayward must have a sense of humor.
