I have a new solar cover and reel. I know I have to suspend the reel over the middle of the pool but I don't know how to attach the cover to the reel near the middle of the pool without actually getting in the pool. I don't have a large area to place the cover and I want to avoid dragging it over the ground. SO how do I get the cover attached to the reel while the reel is suspended over the pool without actually getting into the pool?

. . . membership updated.

Not sure how you're going to put a cover on a roller in the middle of the pool, and have it cover the entire pool. I suppose you could make a roller system that rolls up a folded cover. One person could roll it up, but it would take two to spread it back out. And I think you'd have to build your own system.

I'm sure it could be done, but I don't recall having seen someone do it.

Take a look at this: www.solarroller.com.

That is what I now use on my pool after trying several things previously. (Solar covers, though really helpful, are just a big pain to deal with!) This works pretty well.

Interesting. There are some videos on the website; here's one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIOLEhIxcLg

And there are some interesting reviews -- mostly positive -- on Amazon:
